Three Blocks:

It is really a long time since we started to prepare for our literature review essay. Among all the preparations we did, I think the twitter assignments, seeking UCI library assignment, skim reading practice, and close reading of Jolly’s literature review helped me the most. First, searching on Twitter is very helpful for us to find the animal science topic that we like. For me, I just broadly researching animal science topic on Twitter the first week with no specific topic in mind, but that was when I noticed bees. I followed an organization called Insect Migration the first week and was interested in the news about bees. That was when I started to notice bees. In the following weeks, I intentionally tried to find news about bees, and finally I decided to do research on bees because I found many interesting facts about them. I did not know how to use the UCI Library database in the past, but I learned it in the UCI Library assignment, and now it is the primary way for me to find research materials. Skim reading practice really helps me to find the research article I want to look at and it saved me a lot of time. We need to do a lot of research for these assignments, but we do not need all the details of all the research article we found. After practicing skim reading, I know I can use this method and it saved much time for me to find the materials I want. When I was writing my HCP, the article I referred to the most is Jolly’s literature review. I have never written a literature review like this in the past, thus I read Jolly’s literature review for many times to get a sense of what should be included in a literature review essay. I will say that Jolly’s literature review helped me the most in writing a literature review, or I would not even know how to start my own writing.

Minimum Requirements:

I think I do meet all the Minimum Requirements on my literature review draft. I am confident about the scholarly ethos requirement since I used many academic resources. I am not sure about my arrangement and organization requirement. I purposely used some transition sentences to tell my audience why I put my Big three articles in this order, however, I am not confident about it. I am not sure if my audience can effectively understand my reason to put these articles in this order or not. I think I meet other minimum requirements. My next step is to revise my essay based on the professor’s comments and try to go beyond the minimum requirements.

Two Organizations:

I found that BeesInYourBackyard and NHM Bees. These are both found on Twitter.

BeesInYourBackyard has many tweets about different bees, and their belief is that “Before we can save bees, we need to know the bees. Thus, this a good organization since it provided much information about bees, as well as the situation that some bees are facing now.

NHM Bees also has many information on bees, and this organization is more scientific based than the other organization I mentioned. It mentioned many research studies.

I think these two are possible organizations that I will use for the preparation of advocacy project.
